PUPPY CARE
YOUR PUPPY FOLDER |
AKC REGISTRATION |
Your puppy will come with a folder. Please keep all documents for your own personal record. In this folder, you will find:
MEETING YOUR NEW FRIENDKeep in mind that sickness can occur during travel. Please realize that your puppy may feel a tad queasy due to travel. If your puppy does not show extreme excitement among arrival, he/she probably needs some time to recuperate. If your puppy is slobbering, vomiting, or has a bit of loose stool, it is normal! However, if your puppy's stool is bloody, he/she seems incredibly ill, or your puppy seems overly lethargic, please contact us immediately!

The buyer is responsible for completing the AKC registration. As owners, Abundantly Blessed Kennels will complete a litter registry when a litter is born. However, if you want to transfer ownership from Abundantly Blessed Kennels to yourself, you must fill out and mail the personal registration document included in your puppy folder.
MICROCHIP A pet microchip is a tiny device about the size of a grain of rice contained within glass that is designed to be placed in your puppy's body. The microchip holds a small computer chip. The microchip is implanted between your pet’s shoulder blades with a needle. The microchip stores contact information. Once your puppy arrives, you will need to review the microchip form you received in your puppy folder and fill out your contact information. Then, you will need to mail to the address listed on the microchip form in order for your puppy to be fully microchipped. This is IF you chose to have your puppy microchipped at no charge.

BathYour puppy will receive a bath prior to shipment. We cannot guarantee that your puppy will smell the greatest among his/her arrival! Please keep in mind that sickness and loose stool can occur during travel!
*PLEASE continue to give your puppy their vaccinations and de-wormings as proscribed by your licensed veterinarian after receiving your puppy. |
FoodYour puppy will be weaned among arrival. Along with the puppy you will receive a bag of the food we provide for our puppies called Diamond puppy food. We recommend feeding this and mixing it with the food brand you prefer to prevent more stress on your puppy. Mix lighter then heavier for a couple of weeks before switching entirely. If your puppy has a loose stool, this can be normal when switching dog foods. The stool should go back to normal as your puppy gets used to the new brand of dog food.
Sugar shockPomeranians, and other small breeds, can go into what is called a Sugar Shock or have Hypoglycemia. This means that the puppy has low blood sugar. This can occur more in puppies then adult dogs. Even if your puppy is very healthy, this can still happen to them. When a puppy is in sugar shock, they can become very weak. Other symptoms include your puppy having seizures, sleepy and unable to wake, or shaking/shivers. If your puppy has signs of being in sugar shock, please contact your vet! For immediate help to the puppy, we recommend giving the puppy honey or pancake syrup if you have some available. Please do research on hypoglycemia for Pomeranians so you can give the best care to your puppy. |
